NewAgeDevs developed the Threads Video Downloader app as a free, ad-supported application with an optional one-time Premium purchase. This SERVICE is provided by NewAgeDevs and is intended for use as it is.

This page informs you about our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of information when you use our Service. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. Use of the app is also governed by our Terms and Conditions. This version replaces the policy dated 20 September 2026.

1. Summary

We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not collect your name, email address, contacts, photos, or precise location.
We do not run a download server. Media is fetched directly from Threads or Instagram by your device and saved on your device. We never receive the links you download or the files themselves.
The app does transmit certain device identifiers to third-party services in order to deliver notifications, show the Trending feed, and display advertising. Those are described in section 2.
Your history, downloads, settings and any sign-in you make in the built-in browser stay on your device (section 3).

2. Information Collected Automatically

The app uses third-party services that may collect information used to identify your device:

2.1 Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google)

To deliver push notifications about new trending content, the app registers your device with Google and receives a messaging registration token. This token, together with a Firebase installation identifier, is transmitted to and stored by Google. The app subscribes the token to a small number of notification topics — a general topic and either a "free user" or a "premium user" topic, depending on whether you have bought Premium — so that we can send different messages to each group. The token is not linked to your identity and we do not use it to contact you personally.

2.2 Cloud Firestore (Google)

The Trending feed is downloaded from our Firebase project. The app only reads from it; it does not upload anything about you. Making these requests transmits your device's IP address and basic technical details of the request (such as the app and library version) to Google.

2.3 Advertising (AppLovin MAX and its mediation partners)

The free version of the app displays advertisements served through AppLovin MAX. AppLovin decides which of the following ad networks fills each ad slot; these are the only ad networks built into the app:

Meta Audience Network
InMobi
Unity Ads
Liftoff (Vungle)

Our advertising partners may collect your device's advertising identifier, device and network information, approximate (non-precise) location derived from your IP address, and advertising interaction data, and may share this information for advertising, measurement and fraud-prevention purposes. On Android versions that support it, these SDKs may also use Android's Privacy Sandbox advertising APIs (Topics and Attribution). Their handling of that data is governed by their own privacy policies, linked in section 10. We do not receive this data.

Consent. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app uses AppLovin's consent flow, built on Google's User Messaging Platform, to ask for your choice before ads are loaded. Your choice is passed to every ad network listed above. The consent screen links to this policy.

If you buy Premium, the app stops showing ads and, from the next launch, no longer starts the advertising SDK at all.

2.4 Google Play Services and Google Play Billing

Used for app distribution, in-app review and update prompts, and to process the optional one-time Premium purchase. Purchase transactions are handled entirely by Google; we never receive or store your payment details. The app keeps only a note on your device that Premium is active, and asks Google Play to restore it if you reinstall.

3. Information Stored Only on Your Device

The following is kept in the app's private storage or your Downloads folder. It is not transmitted to us or to any of the services above:

Your search and extraction history, including the post links you opened
Videos, photos, and audio you download, saved to your device's Downloads/ThreadsVideoDownload folder, together with a record of each download (the post link, the creator's username and the post caption)
Your saved or favourited files, recent creators, and which trending items you have watched
App settings such as theme and clipboard-detection preferences, and the last link the app offered to download from your clipboard
Whether you have purchased Premium
Any session cookies and site data created if you sign in to Threads or Instagram inside the app's built-in browser

Uninstalling the app removes this data, except the files you downloaded, which stay in your Downloads folder until you delete them. Cookies and site data from the built-in browser can be cleared at any time from within the app (Menu → Preferences → Clear cookies).

If you have turned on Android's own backup, Android may include the app's settings and history in the device backup it stores in your Google account. That backup is controlled by you and Google; we cannot access it.

4. Content You Download

The app works with links to Threads and Instagram posts. When you paste a link, share one to the app, or use the built-in browser, the app contacts Threads or Instagram (Meta) servers directly from your device to locate the media. We do not proxy, receive, store, or have any access to the content you download. Downloaded files are saved locally on your device only.

If you have signed in to Threads or Instagram in the built-in browser, the app attaches that session's cookies to its requests to Threads or Instagram, so that posts your account can see can be found. Those cookies are only ever sent to Threads or Instagram — never to us or to any other party. Your password is typed into Meta's own sign-in page; the app does not read or store it.

5. Clipboard and Shared Links

When clipboard detection is turned on (it is on by default), the app checks your clipboard when you open the app's home screen, looking for a Threads or Instagram link it can offer to download. The clipboard text is examined on your device only and is never sent anywhere; the app remembers only the last link it offered, so that it does not ask twice. You can turn it off with Menu → Preferences → Detect copied links.

Links you share to the app from another app are handled the same way: they are read on your device and used only to find the media you asked for.

The Trending section shows a curated list of publicly available posts. It contains links and preview images only; we do not host the media itself, and opening an item fetches it from the original platform in the same way a link you paste yourself would.

7. Push Notifications

The app may send notifications about new trending content and app updates, and shows a notification while a download is in progress. You can disable notifications at any time in your device's system settings for this app.

8. Permissions

The app asks for, or declares, the following Android permissions:

Notifications (Android 13 and later)	To show download progress and trending-content notifications. Asked for at runtime; you can refuse.
Foreground service (data sync)	To keep a download running when you leave the app.
Read and write external storage (Android 12L and earlier only)	To save downloads to your Downloads folder and show them in the app's gallery. Not requested on Android 13 and later.
Set wallpaper	To set an image you choose as your wallpaper.
Modify system settings	To set an audio file you choose as your ringtone. Android asks you to grant this in system settings the first time you use the feature.
Google Play Billing	To process the optional Premium purchase.
Advertising ID and ad services (added by the advertising SDKs)	Lets the ad networks in section 2.3 read your device's advertising identifier and, where available, use Android's Privacy Sandbox ad APIs.
Receive messages, wake lock, run at startup (added by Firebase and Android WorkManager)	To receive push notifications and finish scheduled downloads.

The app does not request access to your location, contacts, camera, microphone, or phone number. You can review and revoke permissions at any time in Android's app settings.

9. Feedback and Support

If you use the in-app feedback form, the app opens your own email app with a pre-filled message addressed to us. The message includes the app name and version, your device model and your Android version, so that we can reproduce the problem; you can see and edit everything before you send it. We receive only what you choose to send, and we keep it only as long as needed to answer you.

11. Cookies

Cookies are small files containing limited data that are frequently used as anonymous, unique identifiers. This Service does not itself use cookies to track you. However, the app's built-in browser stores cookies from websites you visit in the same way any browser does, and third-party libraries used by the app may set cookies to gather information and improve their services. Cookies stored by the built-in browser remain on your device, are sent only to the websites that set them, and can be cleared from within the app.

12. Data Retention and Your Choices

Notifications and messaging token — revoked when you uninstall the app; you can also turn notifications off in system settings.
Advertising identifier — you can reset it or opt out of personalised advertising in your device's Google settings. Purchasing Premium removes advertising from the app.
Advertising consent — the app has no screen for changing your choice later. Clearing the app's storage (Android Settings → Apps → Threads Video Downloader → Storage) resets it, and the consent screen is shown again the next time ads load; note that this also clears your in-app history and settings.
Clipboard detection — can be turned off in Menu → Preferences → Detect copied links.
Built-in browser sign-in — Menu → Preferences → Clear cookies signs the browser out of Threads and Instagram and deletes their cookies and site data.
On-device data — cleared by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling it. Downloaded files stay in your Downloads folder until you delete them.
Data held by Google, AppLovin and the ad networks — subject to their own retention policies, linked in section 10. Because we never receive this data, we cannot delete it for you; contact those companies directly.

13. Security

We value your trust in using our Service and strive to use commercially acceptable means of protecting it. The app keeps its data in Android's private per-app storage, which other apps cannot read, and the services described above are reached over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. But remember that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure and reliable, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

14. Links to Other Sites

This Service may contain links to other sites, and the built-in browser can be used to visit third-party websites. These sites are not operated by us. We strongly advise you to review the privacy policy of any site you visit. We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for, the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.

15. Children's Privacy

This Service does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it immediately. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we can take the necessary action.

16. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. You are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the date at the top. These changes are effective immediately after they are posted.
