This policy explains what Couple Widgets: Days Together (“the app”, “we”, “us”) does with information: what stays on your phone, what leaves it, who receives it and why, and the choices you have. It replaces the policy dated 4 October 2026, and adds the optional “playing together” features of version 1.4.0.
1. The short version
- No account to create and no sign-in to type. Unless you link your phone with your partner's, nothing you enter leaves your phone, and we do not receive your data, except an email you choose to send us.
- Your names, dates, photos, memories, widget designs and quiz scores are stored in the app's private storage on your phone. Photos, memories and widget designs are never uploaded, and none of it is given to advertisers.
- If you link your phones to play the quizzes together, your name, pronouns, birthday, chosen avatar, the date you count from and your quiz answers are shared with your partner's phone through Google Firebase (section 4.5). Disconnecting deletes them.
- Photos you pick are copied into the app's own storage and resized there. The app never uploads them.
- The app is free and shows ads, served by AppLovin. AppLovin collects device identifiers and similar data to show and measure ads (section 4.1).
- One optional, one-time purchase, made through Google Play, removes the ads and stops the ad SDK from starting at all (section 4.2). Google handles the payment; we never see your payment details.
- No crash reporting and no push notifications. Versions of the app that include Google Analytics for Firebase send usage statistics (section 4.6).
2. What the app does
Couple Widgets counts the days you and your partner have been together and puts that count on your home screen. You can design home-screen widgets from templates or from scratch, using your own photos or the built-in avatars, backdrops and stickers; keep a timeline and calendar of the dates that matter to you; and play a set of 140 questions for couples, on one phone or, if you link your phones, together on two.
3. Information kept on your device
Everything you enter is stored in the app's private storage on your phone, which other apps cannot read. It is not sent to us or to anyone else, apart from the few details listed in section 4.5 if you link your phone with your partner's.
- About the two of you: names, nicknames, pronouns, birthdays and a photo or avatar for each of you. If you choose to fill them in, also a phone number, email address, love language, hobbies, favourites (food, colour, song, flower, dream destination), blood type, clothing, shoe and ring sizes, allergies and a note. All of these extra fields are optional.
- About your relationship: the date you got together and other dates such as when you first met, your engagement and your wedding; your song, place and quote; and, for long-distance couples, your two cities and a planned reunion date.
- Memories: the title, date, icon and note of each moment you save, and whether it repeats every year.
- Widgets: the widget designs you create, and which design is shown on which home-screen widget.
- Quiz results: which question set you played, your score and when.
- Settings and bookkeeping: your theme and home-card choices, the date the app was first opened, when a full-screen ad was last shown, whether you own the ad-free purchase, and whether the app has already offered that purchase or asked for a rating.
3.1 Photos
When you pick a photo from your gallery or take one with your camera, the app crops it, resizes it to at most 720 pixels on its longest side and saves that copy in its private storage, so it keeps working on your widget even if the original is moved or deleted. The original photo is not changed. Photos are never uploaded.
3.2 Home-screen widgets
Widgets are drawn on your phone, from the data above. On iPhone and iPad, the app passes your widget designs to its own widget extension through a storage area shared only between the app and that extension, on the same device.
Bear in mind that a widget shows names, photos and dates on your home screen, where anyone who can see your phone can see them too.
3.3 Backups
On Android, the app opts out of Android's automatic backup, so its data is not copied to your Google account and is not restored if you reinstall the app or move to a new phone. On iPhone and iPad, the app's data may be included in the device backups you make to iCloud or a computer, which are managed by Apple and by you, not by us.
4. Information that leaves your device
4.1 Advertising (AppLovin)
The free version shows full-screen ads, for example when you open the app. Ads are provided through AppLovin MAX. This version of the app contains the AppLovin SDK and no other ad network's SDK; AppLovin may fill ad requests with ads from advertisers and partners in its own marketplace.
To select, show and measure ads, and to prevent ad fraud, AppLovin may collect:
- Your device's advertising identifier
- Device information such as model, operating system version, language, screen size and network type
- Your IP address, and the approximate location it implies
- Your interactions with the ads shown to you, and basic information about the app and how the ad performed
None of the information you enter in the app (section 3) is given to AppLovin. We do not receive, store or have access to the data AppLovin collects. It is handled by AppLovin under its own policy: https://www.applovin.com/privacy/
Your choices. On Android you can reset or delete your advertising identifier at any time under Settings → Privacy → Ads (or Settings → Google → Ads, depending on your phone). This does not remove ads, but it stops them being personalised with that identifier.
If you are in a region where consent is required for personalised ads, such as the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the app uses AppLovin's consent flow for it, and Settings → Ad privacy options in the app lets you review or change your choice where that applies to you.
If you own the ad-free purchase, the AppLovin SDK is not started at all, so none of the above happens. If you buy it while the app is open, the app stops requesting ads immediately, and the SDK does not start again from the next launch.
4.2 In-app purchase (Google Play)
The app offers a single, optional, one-time purchase, Couple Widgets Forever, which removes the ads. It is not a subscription. Nothing else in the app is locked behind it.
The purchase is made and paid for through Google Play Billing. Google processes the payment under the Google Privacy Policy; we never receive your card or other payment details. Google Play tells the app whether your Google account owns the purchase, and the app keeps that answer on your phone. Each time the app starts without the purchase recorded, it asks Google Play whether you already own it, so the purchase comes back after a reinstall or on a new phone signed in to the same account. You can also tap Restore purchases on the purchase screen.
Google gives us limited records of each sale in the Google Play Console, such as an order number, the product, the price, the date and the country. We use them only for accounting, refunds and support.
The purchase is offered only in versions of the app that show ads.
4.3 Other Google Play features
- App updates (Android): the app asks Google Play whether a newer version is available and, if you agree, downloads it in the background.
- Ratings: after you have used the app for a while, it may show Google Play's own rating window. Any rating or review you submit goes to Google Play under your Google account; we only see reviews the way the public does.
These features are provided by Google under the Google Privacy Policy.
4.4 Things you choose to send
- Share the app opens your phone's share sheet with a short message and a link to the app on Google Play. It goes only to the app and the people you pick.
- Send feedback opens your email app with our address filled in. We receive whatever you decide to send.
- Rate us, Privacy policy and Terms of service open Google Play or your browser.
4.5 Playing together (Google Firebase)
From version 1.4.0 you can link your phone with your partner's, to play the daily quiz and the quiz sets together on two phones and to fill in each other's details. It is optional: Firebase is not started until you open the Quiz tab or link your phones, and the rest of the app works without it.
- Pairing. One of you shares a six-character code with the other. The code works for 24 hours and is deleted once it has been used.
- Sign-in. The app signs in to Firebase Authentication anonymously. This creates a random user ID with no name, email address or phone number attached; you do not create an account or type anything.
- What is stored. In our Cloud Firestore database: the random IDs of the two of you; one time-zone offset for the couple, so both phones agree on when a day starts; the questions of each day and quiz set; each person's answers (the position of the option tapped) and when they were given; and, to fill in each other's details, each person's own name, pronouns, birthday, the built-in avatar they chose (never a photo) and the date you count from.
- Who can read it. Firestore's security rules let only the two linked phones read the couple's data, and keep each person's answers hidden from the other until both have answered. Photos, nicknames, memories, widget designs, contact details and the other optional fields in section 3 are never sent.
- Disconnecting. Disconnecting your phones in the app (Settings → Playing together) deletes both people's details, the couple's quizzes and answers, and this phone's anonymous sign-in. A person's details also expire 180 days after their phone last updated them, so they do not stay behind if a phone is never used again.
Firebase is provided by Google LLC. As with any internet request, Google's servers see your IP address. Google handles this data under the Firebase privacy information and the Google Privacy Policy.
4.6 Usage statistics (Google Analytics for Firebase)
Versions of the app that include Google Analytics for Firebase use it to measure how the app is used. It records app interactions such as opens, sessions, screens viewed, in-app purchases and ad impressions, together with an app-instance ID, device information such as model, operating-system version and language, and the approximate location (country or region) implied by your IP address. It may also collect your device's advertising identifier. We see this only as statistics in the Firebase console, and use it to fix problems and decide what to improve. It never includes the names, dates, photos or other details you enter in the app.
5. Permissions
- Photos: on Android the app uses the system photo picker, which gives it only the photo you select. It does not ask for permission to read your storage or your gallery.
- Camera: on Android, “Take a photo” opens your camera app; the app itself does not hold the camera permission. On iPhone and iPad, iOS may ask you to allow Camera or Photos access when you use these options; it is used only to take or pick the photo you want. You can refuse and use an avatar instead.
- Run at startup (
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED): lets the app re-schedule the nightly widget refresh after your phone restarts, so the day count stays correct. - Background work (
WAKE_LOCK,FOREGROUND_SERVICE): added by Android's WorkManager library, which the widget system uses to update widgets in the background. - Google Play billing (
com.android.vending.BILLING): needed to offer the in-app purchase. - Internet and network state (
INTERNET,ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE,ACCESS_WIFI_STATE), advertising ID (com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID),VIBRATEandCHECK_LICENSE: added by the AppLovin SDK to load and measure ads, as described in section 4.1. The internet connection is also what links your phones (section 4.5), and Google Analytics for Firebase, where included, may read the advertising ID (section 4.6).
The app does not ask for your location, contacts, microphone or phone. You can review and revoke permissions at any time in your phone's settings.
6. What we collect
If you do not link your phones: nothing, other than what you send us yourself. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write, and we keep it only as long as we need to answer you.
If you link your phones, the details listed in section 4.5 are stored in our Firebase project so that your two phones can share them. We do not use them for anything else. Usage statistics (section 4.6) reach us only as statistics. The app has no crash-reporting service.
7. Retention and deletion
Everything the app keeps on your phone stays there for as long as the app is installed. You can delete individual memories and widget designs inside the app. Clearing the app's data in your phone's settings, or uninstalling the app, deletes all of it, including the copies of your photos. We cannot recover it for you.
Details and quiz answers shared through Firebase are deleted when either of you disconnects (section 4.5). Uninstalling the app does not disconnect you, so disconnect first if you want them deleted at once; otherwise a person's details expire 180 days after their phone last updated them.
Your purchase is recorded by Google Play against your Google account and is not affected by deleting the app's data. Data held by AppLovin or Google is kept under their own retention policies, linked above.
8. Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we will delete it.
9. Your rights
Apart from the shared details in section 4.5, which you can delete at any time by disconnecting your phones, we hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing for us to export or erase on request; you control it all from your own device. For data held by AppLovin, use the advertising-identifier and consent controls described in section 4.1, or contact AppLovin under its policy. For purchase records, contact Google.
If you have emailed us, you can ask us to delete that correspondence at any time.
10. Security
The app keeps its data and your photos in its private storage, which other apps cannot read. The app does not add encryption of its own; it relies on the protection your phone provides, so keep your phone locked if the details you store are sensitive to you. Connections to Firebase, AppLovin and Google Play are encrypted (HTTPS). No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Links to other sites
The app can open Google Play, your email app and web pages in your browser. Those are run by others under their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their content or practices.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. The date at the top always reflects the current version, and material changes will be noted in the app's release notes. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated policy. The app's terms of service are at https://newagedevs.com/products/couple-widgets/terms.
