App: Hd Video Downloader (Google Play package com.newagedevs.story_video_downloader)
Developer: NewAgeDevs (Md. Imam Hossain), Bangladesh
Contact: imamagun94@gmail.com
This policy explains what Hd Video Downloader (“the app”, “we”, “us”) does with information: what stays on your phone, what leaves it, who receives it and why, and the choices you have. It replaces the policy dated 9 June 2024, which was published under the app's former name, “Story Video Downloader for the Facebook app”, and stated that the app collected no user data. That statement no longer reflected the app, which shows ads and uses the services described below.
1. The short version
- There is no account with us and no sign-in to our service. You can download public videos without signing in to anything.
- To download private videos or Stories, you can sign in to Facebook inside the app's built-in browser. That sign-in is with Facebook, not with us. Your Facebook session is kept on your phone and is only ever sent to Facebook (section 3).
- Your downloads, history, favourites and settings are stored on your phone.
- For some downloads the app sends the Facebook link to our link-lookup service, which finds the available video qualities. No account, cookie or device identifier is sent with it (section 4.2).
- The app is free and shows ads. Ads are served by AppLovin MAX and the ad networks it works with — Meta Audience Network, Mintegral, Liftoff (Vungle), InMobi and Unity Ads — which collect device identifiers and similar data (section 4.3).
- We use Google Firebase for usage analytics, push notifications, the Trending videos list and the referral programme (section 4.4).
- Premium is an optional purchase through Google Play. We never see your payment details.
2. What the app does
Hd Video Downloader saves Facebook videos, Reels, Stories, Watch videos and photos to your phone so you can watch them offline. You paste or share a link into the app, or use the built-in browser to find content you are allowed to see. The app also offers Easy Downloader (an optional floating button that picks up copied links), Advanced Search (which looks for higher resolutions such as 1080p, 2K and 4K), a download manager that keeps downloads running in the background, a built-in video player, a Trending videos feed and push notifications. The app works with Facebook links only.
The app is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or authorised by Facebook or Meta Platforms, Inc.
3. Information kept on your device
The app stores the following on your phone. Apart from the uses described in section 4, it is not sent to us or to anyone else:
- Downloaded files. Videos, photos and audio you download are saved to your phone's shared storage, in the
Download/HdVideoDownloadfolder, where your gallery and other apps can see them. They stay there until you delete them, even if you uninstall the app. - Facebook sign-in. If you sign in to Facebook in the built-in browser, the browser keeps Facebook's cookies, as any browser does. The app also keeps a copy of those cookies and a Facebook request token in its private storage, so it can load Stories and private videos for you. They are sent only to Facebook. The app does not read or store your Facebook password; you type it into Facebook's own page. To remove the session, use Clear cookies in the app's menu.
- History and lists. The links you have searched, your watch history, favourites, your download list, and the notifications you have received.
- Settings and status. Theme, language, Easy Downloader and auto-download settings, whether you have Premium and which plan, trial time, your Advanced Search credits, timers that limit how often ads are shown, your referral code if you created one, and a random ID the app generates for the referral programme.
Uninstalling the app, or clearing its storage in Android settings, deletes all of this except the downloaded files. If Android backup is turned on for your Google account, Android may include the app's private data, including the saved Facebook sign-in, in your device backup, as it does for most apps.
4. Information that leaves your device
4.1 Facebook
To show pages and download media, the app connects directly to Facebook's servers, just as a browser would. If you have signed in, those requests carry your Facebook session cookies. Facebook receives your IP address and the requests themselves, and handles them under the Meta Privacy Policy. We do not receive any of it.
4.2 Our link-lookup service
When you use Advanced Search or Easy Downloader, and as a fallback when the app cannot read a video directly, it sends the Facebook link to a link-lookup service we run on Amazon Web Services (AWS), in the EU (Stockholm) region. The service replies with the available formats and qualities for that link.
The request contains only the link and a key that identifies the app. It carries no Facebook cookies, no account and no device or advertising identifier. As with any internet connection, the server can see your IP address. AWS hosts the service under the AWS Privacy Notice.
4.3 Advertising
The free version shows banner, native, interstitial, app-open and rewarded ads. They are provided by AppLovin MAX, which selects an ad from these networks:
- AppLovin — https://legal.applovin.com/privacy/
- Meta Audience Network — https://www.facebook.com/privacy/policy/
- Mintegral — https://www.mintegral.com/en/privacy
- Liftoff Monetize (Vungle) — https://liftoff.ai/privacy-policy/
- InMobi — https://advertising.inmobi.com/privacy-policy
- Unity Ads — https://unity.com/legal/privacy-policy
To select, show and measure ads, and to prevent ad fraud, these companies may collect:
- Your device's advertising identifier, and on newer Android versions signals from Android's Privacy Sandbox advertising features
- Device information such as model, operating system version, language and screen size
- Approximate location derived from your IP address
- Information about the app and your interactions with the ads shown to you
This data goes directly from the app to those companies, which handle it under their own policies, linked above. We receive only aggregated reports, such as how many ads were shown and how much they earned.
Your choices.
- If you are in a region where the law requires consent for personalised advertising (such as the EEA, the UK or Switzerland), the app shows a consent screen before any ad is loaded, and your choice is applied to every later ad request. The app has no menu option to reopen that screen yet. To change your choice, clear the app's storage in Android settings, and the screen will appear again the next time you open the app.
- You can reset or delete your advertising identifier at any time under Settings → Privacy → Ads on your Android device, which also stops it being used for personalised ads. You will still see ads, but they will not be personalised.
- With Premium, the app does not start the advertising SDKs and shows no ads.
4.4 Google Firebase
The app uses these Google Firebase services, handled under the Firebase privacy information and the Google Privacy Policy:
- Google Analytics for Firebase. This collects usage statistics: an app-instance ID, device model, operating system and app version, country or region, sessions and screens used, and in-app purchase events. It may also collect your advertising identifier. The app also logs its own events: each ad shown (ad network, format, ad unit and the revenue it earned), and whether a downloaded video's sound had to be repaired. These events contain no links, titles or file names. We use the reports to see how the app is used and which ads perform.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging. This delivers push notifications, such as new trending videos, app news and our other apps. Firebase assigns your installation a registration token. The app subscribes to a general topic and to a “free” or “premium” topic depending on whether you have Premium, so we can send messages to those groups. We do not send notifications to individual devices.
- Cloud Firestore. The Trending videos feed is read from our Firestore database. The app only reads that list and does not write anything to it.
- Firebase Realtime Database (referral programme). If you create a referral code under Invite and Earn, the app stores that code, the time it was created, and the random ID the app generated for your installation. This random ID is not your advertising ID or any hardware identifier. When someone installs the app with your code, the database records a referral count and the bonus owed to you, both under the random IDs. A bonus is removed from the database once your app collects it.
4.5 Google Play
- Purchases. Premium plans (monthly or yearly subscriptions, or a one-time lifetime purchase) are bought through Google Play Billing. Google processes the payment. The app receives only the purchase status, which it keeps on your phone. We never see your card or payment details.
- Install referrer. On first launch, unless you already have Premium, the app reads the referral information Google Play attached to the install. This lets it apply a friend's referral code automatically if you installed from an invite link.
- Reviews and updates. The app uses Google Play's in-app review and in-app update features.
These are handled by Google under the Google Privacy Policy.
4.6 Email
Feedback and billing-help buttons open your own email app with a message addressed to us. Nothing is sent unless you send that email.
5. Permissions
| Permission | Why the app uses it |
|---|---|
INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE, ACCESS_WIFI_STATE | To load Facebook pages and download media, and to check that a connection is available first. |
READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (Android 12 and earlier only) | To save downloads to your phone's storage and list them in the app. |
POST_NOTIFICATIONS | To show download progress, completed downloads and push notifications. |
FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_DATA_SYNC, WAKE_LOCK | To keep a download running when you leave the app. |
SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE | To show the Easy Downloader floating button over other apps, only if you turn Easy Downloader on. |
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED | To restart Easy Downloader after your phone restarts, only if you turned it on. |
WRITE_SETTINGS (“Modify system settings”) | Only when you choose to set a downloaded file as your ringtone. Android asks you to allow it first. |
com.android.vending.BILLING | To buy Premium through Google Play. |
AD_ID, ACCESS_ADSERVICES_AD_ID, ACCESS_ADSERVICES_ATTRIBUTION, ACCESS_ADSERVICES_TOPICS | Used by the advertising and analytics SDKs to read the advertising identifier and use Android's Privacy Sandbox advertising features (section 4.3). |
Install referrer, Cloud Messaging and licence-check permissions, VIBRATE, com.amazon.privacypass.ATTEST | Added by Google Play, Firebase and the advertising SDKs for the features described in section 4. |
The app does not request access to your location, contacts, camera, microphone or phone calls.
Clipboard. When you tap Paste, open the app or open Easy Downloader, the app checks the clipboard for a copied Facebook link. Other clipboard content is ignored. A link found there is handled as described in sections 3 and 4.
You can review and revoke permissions at any time in Android's app settings. Revoking one only disables the feature that needs it.
6. What we receive
We have no user accounts and cannot connect anything below to your name. What reaches us, or services we control, is:
- The links sent to our link-lookup service (section 4.2).
- Usage and ad-revenue reports from Google Analytics for Firebase (section 4.4).
- Referral records in Firebase Realtime Database (section 4.4).
- Emails you choose to send us. We use these only to reply, and keep them only as long as needed to help you.
We do not sell personal information.
7. Retention and deletion
- On your phone: use Clear cookies to remove the Facebook session, or clear the app's storage or uninstall it to remove everything the app keeps. Delete downloaded files from your gallery or file manager.
- Analytics: kept by Google according to Google Analytics data-retention settings.
- Referral records: email us your referral code and we will delete the records stored under it.
- Advertising data: held by the ad networks under their own retention policies, linked in section 4.3. Use your advertising-identifier controls, or contact those companies directly.
8. Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we will delete it.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EEA and UK, or the CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information about you, to object to or restrict its use, and to withdraw consent.
- For the little we hold — emails and referral records — contact us and we will act on your request.
- For advertising data, use the consent screen and advertising-identifier controls in section 4.3, or contact the ad networks directly.
- For Firebase and Google Play data, see the Google Privacy Policy, which explains how to exercise your rights with Google.
- California: the ad networks' collection of device identifiers for personalised advertising may count as “sharing” under California law. To opt out, delete or reset your advertising identifier as described in section 4.3, or use Premium.
10. Security
The app's own connections — to Facebook, our link-lookup service and Firebase — use HTTPS. Data the app keeps is stored in Android's private per-app storage, which other apps cannot read; downloaded files are the exception, because they are saved to shared storage so you can use them. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Links to other sites and the in-app browser
The built-in browser loads Facebook's website, and the app may link to other sites and to Google Play. Those sites are not operated by us, and their own privacy policies apply. We recommend reading them.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. The date at the top always shows the current version. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
